I may not be much help to you but because my family were mainly farmers I have tried to research farms and although I don't have access to 1841 census I can give you details of people living at this address up until 1891 census. If thats any help let me know.

Hi,

According to my notes John died in 1828 and Sarah then married William Lewis. The farm was taken over by David Evans and his wife Mary. By 1850 it had been passed to John Evans.

The farm was about 40 acres.

I have the Llanegwad parish records if you would like a look up of someone.

Alison

Hello
I'm finding the info. posted by Alison confusing since I have information on 'Tyllwyd' in 1851 -1891 census and the farm occupancy seems to be with Richard Thomas and his son Thomas. Thomas  took over the farm from his father by the 1871 census! Are there two farms of this name in Llanegwad?

Perhaps, or perhaps by 1851 it had changed hands again?

Certainly the Llanegwad parish records give the address details as Tyllwydd, Cwmcothy for John & Sarah Evans, David & Mary Evans and John Evans, although as you point out there may have been more than one dwelling there.

Thank you both for info on John and Sarah Evans of Tyllwyd Cwmcothy Llanegwad.  Would you know when they were married and how old was John when he died ? Do you know what happened to Sarah and William Lewis.  All info on who was living at the farm or about the family will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
