JAMES RICHEY, MARTHA STEVENSON - RAMELTON , 1770'S
« on: Saturday 17 January 04 23:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello, This is my first posting so hopefully I am doing this correctly.

I am looking for information on James Richey born 1771 who married Martha Stevenson born 1774.  They were both from Ramelton, County Donegal. They emigrated to Canada around 1826 and eventually settled in Saint John, New Brunswick.

They were Presbyterian, however one of their sons, Matthew, converted to Methodism.

Any help in locating information on this family would be appreciated.
RICHEY - They are from the Ramelton area in County Donegal in Ireland.

Hi Wil

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Season's Greetings from Nova Scotia

No, I have no new info  - I am still searching for info on James Richey & Martha Stevenson.

I know James was born approx. 1771- probably Ramelton, Ireland and died June 21, 1836 in Saint John, N. B. I believe he was a carpenter by trade

Martha was born approx. 1774, also in Ireland  and died June 25, 1854 in Saint John, N. B.

They had 7 children - Robert, John, Mary, Samuel, Matthew, William, Andrew.

I would appreciate any info on this couple.  I have no info on their parents at all - any data at all would be welcome and appreciated. Ive gotten all the info I can from the N.B. records, they did not have much on them - just their date of death.

Thanks very much

RICHEY - They are from the Ramelton area in County Donegal in Ireland.

I wonder if James had a brother George bc 1760 dc 1820 m'd Isabella Adair in 1782 in Killybeggs, Donegal? George had a brother William b 1783 m'd Sophia Miller in 1806 in Donegal and a sister Alice 1785  m'd Samuel Woods in 1805 in Washington USA.She died there in 1862 Agnetta

Hi, if actually think I'm a descendant of George Richey and Isabella Adair.  My great grandfather was John Carl Richey, my Grandma Hume's father.  I can't find any mention of a sibling James.  I've seen Alexander and John as siblings but not a James.  They were from Kilybegs, but it looks like his father, George Sr was from County Down.   George Sr. looks like he had a brother James.
