Elizabeth was in Canada during world War two as she sent presents over from Canada to my mum and her brothers.
I have no idea when she went out there to live.
Nickname Bettie Holland
Possible entry in 1901 census if not yet married
Name:  Elizabeth Holland
Birth:  abt 1872 - Bermondsey, London, England
Civil:  Bermondsey

Sorry i have no idea of her mothers name either but her sister was called Harriet Holland and became Brooks in 1880.

No, This is in Ontario!  I'll let Karen or someone with noodles on that locale fill you in on how far it may be from Toronto....

Hi Lucy
That marriage record is from Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada.

I think this is John H Metters and wife Elizabeth in Canada 1901, Line 20-26
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/DisplayPagePanb.jsp?id=70955&highlight=20
the original shows Elizabeth's immigration year as 1883
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/ImageArray.jsp?id=70955

There is a record of a Bessie Holland, age 8, arriving in 1882 on the SS Circassian amongst the Home Children here:

Could that be her?

The biggest City in Middlesex County would be London, Ontario which is about 2 hours west of Toronto, or 120 miles.
