1920 US census - Thomas Nettleton
« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 20:32 GMT (UK) »
hi,

I'm hoping that someone could please do a lookup for me. I have an ancestor Thomas B Nettleton born in 1886 in England (born Birkenhead but left from Barrow, Lancashire). He arrived in Boston in 1909 saying he was going to New York to visit a friend Colin Linn (Mclean?) at 301 (or could be 1301) Washington St, Hoboken, New Jersey.

But on the 1910 census he is still in Massachussetts (Worcester city) working as a Pattern Maker which was the same occupation he gave on the ships list. He was single and lodging with a Samuel Whitaker.

I'm hoping that someone can find him on the 1920 and that the Pattern Maker clue will help. He will be about 34.

Thanks for looking.

Nettle.

hi,

thanks for looking - I can see this isnt going to be easy. can you tell me what the "NA" and the "1911" stand for as I'm not familiar with what data is on the american records.

also, can you think of any other type of US records that I could search?

thanks again

nettle.

The "NA" means he was naturalized, and 1911 refers to the year of naturalization.  I suggest you goole search free census forms and download the specific year.  Then you can put in the data and know what the transcriptions say.
