(K)CAVANAGH - Miles, John, Patrick, Margaret, Mary

Does anyone have any information on these members of the Cavanagh or Kavanagh family?  Miles/Myles married Bridget Tymon (b. 1848) in Ireland.  John was born in Mayo in 1866.  Margaret was born in 1868 in Ireland.  Any help appreciated.

Miles / Myles is a surname type given name. I recommend people to look carefully at these names when they appear on their family tree. The use of the surname as a Christian name is a common practice. I have the name Hulme as a given name. It was my paternal grandmother's maiden name. Using both the family surname and such a given name may well enable you to pinpoint the location in Ireland where your ancestors lived. I note Miles / Myles Cavanagh / Kavanagh was born in Co. The Miles / Myles Cavanagh / Kavanagh rhythm reminded me  of the A. A. Milne Poem "Disobedience" which starts " James James Morrison Morrison Wetherby George Dupree, Took great care of his Mother though he was only three". Note the two surname type given names in those lines. I wonder if A. A. Milne had an interest in genealogy?

In case you don't have them, you could order birth certificates (Margaret 28/11/1864, John 19/12/1866, Claremorris registration district) from the GRO. http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm  - six euros per photocopy. Once you know the place of birth and Parish you might be able to order a microfilm from the LDS and look for their marriage and other children.

Thanks Heywood for the information on Miles and Bridget Kavanagh.  I have been looking for information on them for many years.  I will also send for a copy of the births of John(my grandfather) and Margaret(his sister).
