Is that where the traffic lights are now? The road straight on is the back road to Inverkeithing, and if you go right it takes you to the A92?

Hello Ostler,

You are correct. The photo shows the old cross (where the traffic lights are). It is taken with the
photographers back to Inverkeithing and looking towards Hill of Beath and Cowdenbeath.

Cheers,
The Jock.

Evelina, I would appreciate any photos of the old mining housing.  We had relatives living at 1 The Square, Hill of Beath.  Also, I was sent an old map if Hill of Beath from 1901, showing the mining housing, that people might find interesting.  I have attached it and a page on the housing conditions.

Hi MarilynR, Could you let me know the source of the map of Hill of Beath. I am interested in getting the same type of map for Old Crossgates and since it it only half a mile away I think it should be available from the same source.
Cheers,
The Jock.

Is the house on the left, with the woman in the doorway, now Romano's chip shop? ;D

No. The chip shop is on the other side. That doorway was the entrance to the upstairs
of a house below which up till recently was a pub (The Cross Inn). It is now the site of a block of flats.
