Hi

With a common surname like White, we need a lot more info

Birthyears and birthplaces of William White and Mary Gibbs
same for Edward and Mary Williams

What census info do you already have on both of the above couples and what help is it you require?

Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Are Edward and Mary married on th 1871 census - do they have any children showing ?
I can find one wedding before this date that might be them, and Mary's surname would be Arkett then.
There are 2 Mary Arketts shown one for 1845 one for 1850 both in Herefordshire - any idea if this might be a step on the right path ?

This seems to be her birth
Margaret Jane Williams born 2/1/1870 to Edward and Mary Agnes Williams at Penhow Monmouthshire .

Where has Mary got down on the Census as her place of birth ?

I have just found that on the 1881 census when the family are at Aberystruth in Monmouthshire and indeed Mary is down as born in Westmorland.
