TRICKER, ?, a widow with children in Herts. 1841???
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 13:58 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate the widowed mother and possible siblings of my g-grandfather Richard Tricker in 1841.  Richard and his family are found in Sawbridgeworth on Cock St.  I looked at British Origins in 1841 but they didn't have Hertsfordshire available.  Widow Tricker(would likely be at least 40 years old or more) may have remarried but maybe the children are listed as Trickers in the household.   Is the 1841 indexed or otherwise easier to find possibilities for my missing TRICKER family?   I am most likely wishing for too much in this post.  If I am could someone please advise me on what I am looking at in time and money if I have to approach HALS with a request such as this?? ???
Tricker: Hadleigh Suffolk, Hertsfordshire, Kingston, Surrey
Chapman: Sheering, Essex
Fryer: Middlesex, Essex
Parker: Kingston, Surrey
Knight: Redruth & Camborne, Cornwall
Hambley/Hambly: Cornwall
Turner: Essex
Stirratt: Ayrshire, Scotland
Knight: Ontario & Alberta, Canada

I'm afraid that very little of Herts has been indexed in 1841.  There is a partial index at The Genealogist - pay to view.

http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/index.php

For details of the HALS research service see my HALS post, but as far as I am aware, there is not a complete 1841 index at HALS at present.

There are some very kind souls here at RootsChat, so perhaps someone will be willing to check Sawbridgeworth for you, but as there is no index, possible locations would be needed in order to undertake any further search if they are not there.

Rick :)

Thank you for the quick reply! :)  I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy and I am not sure what I am going to do. ???  Thanks again, Dawn

Note to listers.

Sawbridgeworth has now been checked with negative results. :(
