1841 census look up please
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 18:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,I wonder if someone would be kind enough to look on the 1841 census for SAMUEL HALE for me , he is proving to be very difficult to find.Details as follows

SAMUEL HOOPER HALE born about 1815 (some census say 1819 and his death certificate says he was born 1826 !!! )
Born in LITTLE WALTHAM ESSEX.
On the 1851 census he is living at what looks like 17,EAST STREET BROADWATER WORTHING SUSSEX .
His wife Susan Hale nee Bowles b1827 Wiltshire is with him but this could be his second wife but as I cannot find there marriage details I am uncertain.

Thank you for your time, regards Kath

Hi Kath,

In 1841 in East Street, Worthing (HO107/1095 Folios 11 and 12, Pages 14 and 15) is this family:

Joseph Hale, 25, Fisherman
Frances(?) do, 25
Frances do, 3
Joseph Hale, 9 months

All born in Sussex

This family are still in Broadwater in 1861.

Sorry.

Well done that lass

I went through the 120 pages of the 1841 for Broadwater and spotted nothing at all - but I was trying to watch Time Team at the same time
