Royal Oak Inn - Looking for old photo
« on: Monday 13 February 06 14:49 GMT (UK) »
Was wondering if anyone could help me.

I'm looking for an old photo of the Royal Oak Inn, near King's Lynn (Middleton)

If anyone has one, or know where I could find one, please contact me.  ;D

Ta,

Hi there

Middleton has it's own website...............http://www.middleton-norfolk.co.uk/

"Middleton Village, it is thought, spread out from scattered settlements around farms near to Middleton Tower. The farms have survived, but many of the cottages, used by farm workers have been demolished. Not only cottages, but a pub much used by the farmworkers has also gone. The Royal Oak was just over the Kings Lynn to Norwich railway line and was known by most people as The Eel’s Toe, or just The Toe"

Someone on there should be able to help.......

Sarah :)

Hi

I know that you have looked at Norfolk Pubs but if you send Richard an email he may have a photo.  He has loads of pictures that he isnt allowed to put onto the site as they are not his originals.

Best of luck

Anything on the Norfolk Library Services?

http://norlink.norfolk.gov.uk/cgi-bin/viewpoint-server-web.sh

click on 'Picture Norfolk' and search

or try

http://www.francisfrith.com/

or see if Tempus have published a book on the area

http://www.tempus-publishing.com/

after that I'm getting stuck unless the Local Studies Library has something not on the Picture Norfolk web-site
