Thomas Shears of Whitilbury
« on: Sunday 26 September 04 19:22 BST (UK) »
Hi folks,
I am trying to find out more about my ancestor John Thomas Shears. He was 50 in 1901. He says in the census that he was born in Witilbury but I cannot find this place. Please can anyone help (churches, where records are kept etc)? I would like to get further back with this family,
Thank you
Brealey, Mason, Shears, Kennedy(Cumberland and Oldham), Abel, Shakespear (Derby) Satterly (Devon)

Wow,
Thanks Nicky for your prompt and helpful reply.  Yes, this is the family, I am sure.  The Charlotte was my grandmother  I think I remember her, vaguely.  I certainly remember her brother George, whose pipe smoking annoyed my mother so much!  I am wondering now what happened to James, I don't think that he survived past the 1920's.  Maybe a war casualty...
Anyway, many thanks, that has helped a lot,
Dorothy
