Hi

Here is the 1841

Born in county

Joseph Renison, age 25, joiner
Eliza age 25
Mary age 3
Eliza age 2
Mary age 3 months

also listed on same page is this family

John Renison, age 55, farmer, not born in county
Rebecca age 45, born in county
John, age 35, joiner, born in county
William, age 20, blacksmith, born in county
George, age 15, joiner , born in county
Charles, age 9 born in county
Rebecca, age 7, born in county
Henry, age 5, born in county
Eliza Falkner, age 14, f s, born in county

Bratoft, Lincolnshire
HO 107 0629
folio 4/8 page 10

Unfortunately in the 1841 it does not give relationships, or places of birth and ages over the age of 15 were generally rounded down to the nearest 5.

So sorry cant explain why there are two Mary's with Joseph!!

Nicky

Nicky, many thanks for that, it helps a lot.
I do know that one daughter was Mary Jane and one Mary Ann, but didn't know the younger was born by 1841.
Thanks again, jana

If John was his father, it was his second marriage ...

John RENISON (son of John) married Rebecca FALKINDER (wid) dau of James BUTTERS, Bratoft 2 Oct 1837 - which accounts for the surname of Eliza (14)

A Mary RENNISON (44) was buried 26 March 1837 ... could explain why Joseph liked the name Mary.

Thanks Geoff, that is useful. I cannot find the marriage of Joseph R and Eliza Ann Wray, she was born in Bratoft. She was a widow by 1851 census and their youngest, Salome, was born in 1846. So he didn't make old bones.
Many thanks, jana
