GEDCOM file export from PAF5.2
« on: Friday 17 February 06 21:20 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if someone could tell me if it is possible to export a line of descendants in a GEDCOM file in PAF without having any of the notes attached?

I've tried a number of things this evening, ie unticking various boxes and the like but the notes always seem to get copied! I've come to the conclusion the only thing I can do is to generate a new .paf file for the line in question, open it, delete some/all of the notes and then export the modified .paf as a new GEDCOM.

Is there an easier way than this???

Many thanks

Pete

Pete,

I am still using PAF5.0   When I go to File > Export   On the right side of the box that appears gives me the opportunity to uncheck:
notes, sources, multi media, contact info, submitter, etc.

The resulting GEDCOM then did not contain those items.

Hi Susan

The procedure that you described is the one I thought I'd followed most carefully earlier this evening and at that time  (I tried 5 times I think) the notes always copied over too. I had unticked all the boxes.

Just now, after your post I tried again, leaving a couple of boxes ticked and perhaps more importantly closing down all files before opening the exported .paf to generate the .ged.

I'm sure you've guessed what happened - new file was there with no notes as required!!!!

Must note exactly how I did it before I forget.

Thanks for your help.
