i am looking for my ggg Grandfather James Lawrence Eaves death index but cannot not seem to find it. I am beginning to think he may have served in the WW1 and died. (Would that explain why he would not be on the death index?) I have found a possible medal card but before i buy it i would like to know what info it contains. Will it enable me to match it up with him? Will it also tell you if he was killed in action?

Sorry i forgot to mention he was born in Barnet. I have got the medal card from the national archives but their is not that much info on it can it used to find out info elsewhere

i can't find any j eaves, born barnet in 'soldiers died' data base

why not post the MIC in case we can see something you've missed?
