1841 Census Look-up - Price

Looking for family of Price on 1841 Census in Town of Argoed Monmouth.  Thomas, collier, head of household, daughter Sarah abt 20yo.  Sorry not much info.  It's a long shot but I thought I'd give it ago.

I had a quick look at Argoed in 1841, may have missed them as my disc is not indexed. However, there is a Thomas Price family but no daughter Sarah, could she possibly have been married by then or working away.  The details for the Thomas Price family are:-

H0 107/750/6 ED1
Rock, Bedwellty
Argoed

PRYCE, Thomas  55 collier
            Jane      55
            Elias      20  collier
            Thomas 15     "
            David     10     "
            Margaret 10
            Rachel      9
LEWIS, William    30  labourer
all born in county, except Jane and William.

Thomas and Jane are still in Argoed in 1851 but no children with them by then.

Thanks Caroline. This could be my Price family.

Sarah was married in April of '41.  Seeing that the census was taken in June '41, I was hoping she might have still been at home, proving that it was the right family.  Sarah also had another brother William but he was also married at that time and and not at home. Thomas , William and Sarah  are the only family members I know of for certain.  See the problem.

Are there earlier records that I might be able to look back further to varify if I have the right family? 

The names from Thomas's family, seem to follow through to the families I'm looking at but that could be a coincidence.

I think my family line must have picked all the most common names in Wales at the time.(Price, Davies, Jones, Harris)

Hi Caroline,

Just noticed you have Morgans in Monmouthshire.  I have a Jane Price daughter of William Price whose the son of Thomas Price.  Jane married a Henry Morgan in 1855 from Monmouthshire and lived there from 1861'-'81 .  Small world.

Hello Diane,
Just wondered if Sarah stayed in the Argoed area after her marriage.  If so what was her married name.

I have Morgan's in three different sections of my family tree, all in the Bedwellty area - it gets confusing at times.

Sarah married a Lewis Harris, collier, living in Argoed at time of marriage.  His father was Charles Harris.

In census of 41 & 51 they were in Argoed.  1851 they had children William & Jane, neice Rachel Price who I am most interested in.

Hi Caroline,

Thomas Price father of my Sarah was a collier, but thank you for your efforts.

Oh by the way, the Morgans that are connected are Henry Morgan who married Jane Price daughter of William Price (who is my connection) and they had children Lydia, Ruth, William.  In the 1861 Census I have my family William Price and daughters Amelia and Rachel living with them.  Don't know if there is a connection for you or you may already have them.  These Morgan were born Bedwelty and Llanhilleth.  Hope it helps.
