zappora mcnamara garston liverpool

hi,...you`d think with a christian name like zappora,i would easily find zappora mcnamara on census,but i`m hitting a brick wall....i know that zappora was my g.grandmother..she married robert walker and they lived in garston liverpool...their daughter martha walker was my grand mother and she married daniel oakes...daniel was born in 1900,so presume martha about same age...this would make zappora born about 1875c .my dad says he thinks his nan (zappora) might have origionally came from manchester area,but lived in garston later on...been on 1901 census,but no record...any advice...appreciated....regards...allan oakes

Maybe that was her offical name, but she was called something else in everydaY life and that is why you can't find her

I've got one and it's spelt  'Zipporah',if you're looking on ancestry try zip* or zap*  then you've covered the enumerators and transcribers mistakes.

I've had a look on lancs bmd and can't find a wedding or birth ,so you might just have to work back through certificates to get the right spelling and years.

No sign of a wedding anywhere which is why I asked if she used another name
Think the best bet is to send for Marthas birth certificate as the mothers name will be on that
