Hi Joxer

I cannot remember seeing any as my ancestors were miners from Staffs to Durham.  I know there is a national mining musuem website and somebody can look up mining deaths from around the country for a small fee/donation.  Cannot remember the site off hand.

Hi Joxer

If its mining deaths for Durham perhaps I can Help.

As for lists of miners and in which pit they worked.
You have to look for starters registers for that pit, very few survive.

Bit late to respond, I know, but have just found this site and am trawling through the very helpful 'back pages'...

Anyway, have just stumbled across another site which looks like it will be really useful: http://www.durhamrecordoffice.org.uk/article/10531/Search-Durhams-Hidden-Depths - it's not quite a census, but I've already found the first two relatives (both of them casualties) I've searched for. They're both mentioned in the minutes of meetings and it seems you can view these records in Durham. I've only got another 100 or so names to trawl through now  :)

Hello,
I don't appear to be able to open that link you posted :(

My family were 'Marshall' and they all went down the mines. My dad was born in 1895, Gateshead.
His dad William b 1873, Westoe.

Would love to know how I can access that link!

Isabe nee Marshall.
