I'm not an expert - in fact quite the opposite  :)

But I found a date of 1900/07/25 - Skirmish: Bank station at this site...

Something here about a chap Maddox in Sept 1900...

There are lots of hits on Google where you could piece together a story.  Though I'm sure an expert will turn up any minute  ;D

Steve !

I'm wondering if he is on a Boer War Memorial - and if he is - it will give his regiment !! - this is probably a backwards way of getting information ... but .... ! I found a newspaper article about Swansea - I also know St Mary's and St John's has a memorial! maybe you could post on the Swansea board and see if somebody could look it up for you and maybe take a picture!!

Then we'll go from there!!  :)

Quote
Remembrance in Swansea
All those who fought and fell in war will be remembered in

Swansea this week.
At 11am on Friday, November 11th, Armistice Day, a ceremony will be held at the Cenotaph where Lord Mayor of Swansea Mair Gibbs will lay a wreath and the "Last Post" played.

In attendance will be the Lord Mayor of Swansea Mair Gibbs, the Lord Lieutenant Commodore Robert Hastie, the High Sheriff, President of the Swansea Branch of the Royal British Legion Colonel TL Prior and Chairman Con Fehrman.

The Lord Lieutenant will then lay a wreath at the Boer War memorial.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Swansea Festival of Remembrance taking place at the Brangwyn Hall on Saturday evening. Doors open at 6.30pm and the service is free, although donations will be welcome.

The Remembrance Sunday Parade will begin at 2pm on the Kingsway, ending up in St Mary's Church. Veterans of various regiments and squadrons will take part in the parade, which usually ends at a packed church.
