1841 Lookup Glos/Wilt ?
« on: Thursday 02 March 06 12:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi

In 1851 the below family was in Coates Glos but because of the Glos Wilts boundry thing I have been advised to try this board for a look up as Glos came up with nothing unfortunately.

The wife had twins baptised in Sapperton 1841 and lost 1.

These guys owned upto 800 acres in this area between them at any one time so I dont think they are far away

Anne Elise Howell      abt 1837  D   Sapperton, Gloucestershire,

Francis R Howell    abt 1850 S   Coates, Gloucestershire,

Jane Howell    abt 1841 D   Sapperton, Gloucestershire,

John Howell    abt 1842 S   Sapperton, Gloucestershire,

John H Howell    abt 1817    HED  Kemble, Wiltshire, England

Mary Ann Howell    abt 1812    WIF Avening, Gloucestershire,

William G Howell    abt 1847    S Coates, Gloucestershire,
Son

Cheers

Hi

Didnt have chance to search him last night. Looks as if yes, he was the eldest took the big farm in South Cerney where he stays, takes a lot of the land also that was willed to him and his brother in law. I have the will JHH left over a grand plus 2/3 farms and a cottage.  I am almost sure the farm and cottage are the east end farm and cottage that are in fairford today. The brother in law was a BEAK also big land owners at that time. I need to go through the will again and pick out the farms, also there are 4/5 different farms in the censuses back to 51, wish they had put addresses on the 41 census its a pain lol.

I have been on and off this for a couple of years so I know an awfull lot once i dig into my head.  The guy I want is the one that dissapears, I am the third generation to carry the rebel gene that he has so its my motivation if you like LOL. The second son has something to do with the begginings of one of the big tractor companies so its all really interesting to me and am lucky I  guess that they had money as thr records are acurately done and the places known.

Enough ramblings thanks again for your help you been great.
