Any Carabines?
« on: Friday 03 March 06 14:15 GMT (UK) »
Searching for a James Carabine who was born Mayo early 1800s-no idea where. He left Ireland possibly 1830s and had settled in Bolton Lancs as a hardware dealer by the 1841 census, had a wife called Bridget. Have traced him since 1841 but would love to know where in Co.Mayo he hailed from!

Hello Maggie,

There were Carabines in Co. Mayo in 1856-7 when Griffiths Valuation
took place in the County http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php

All the Best,

Chris

I have a Mary Carabine born in Ballina, Mayo, Ireland abt 1816.  She married in 1832 to James McHale.  I only have a witness to her wedding as Margaret Carabine (possibly a sister?).  Mary and James moved to England in the Pontefract, England area.  I have been searching for more info as well.

If I have done my research correctly then I am a descendant of Mary Carabine born in abt 1816.
But in my research it says she may have had a son called Patt Gavaghan, so maybe I messed up?
