Hi Joe

Do you know anything else about her to cross-reference?

1851 census details or father's name from marriage certificate?

Regards

Hi Sandra,

In the 1851 Census she is living in Liverpool as Jane Kemp with her husband Robert Elliott Kemp, his father (another Robert Kemp) and their son - yes you guessed it another Robert Kemp!

The only thing I have to go on as to her ancestry is the record that she's down as 26 years old born in Gargrave, Yorkshire.

I hope that this is of some use.
All the best.

.......her daughter born later that year was named Lucy NORTH Kemp.  I can't help but feel that North was surname lost on either the Hartley or Kemp side at some point.

Hi Joe

I thought I had her in Carleton in Craven, but looking forward, that Jane Hartley is still in the family group & unmarried in 1851  :(

I thought I had another in Barnoldswick, which isn't too far away down the line of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, but that one fell over too  :(

Do you have her marriage certificate?

Not a copy of it, but I found details on familysearch.org that she married on 3 Aug 1945 at St Nicholas Church, Liverpool

Hi Joe

This might be Mission: Impossible until you have a name for her father.

Often, when they moved a considerable distance from their birth place, the birthplace given on the census is rounded out to somewhere bigger that the enumerator might have heard of.  Even though Gargrave is a small place, it was important as a village on the Leeds-Liverpool canal & might have been used to cover for her being born anywhere in a great swathe of the Dales!

Sorry!
