SNELL in Bucklebury
« on: Sunday 05 March 06 16:09 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for the baptism of ROBERT SNELL in about 1660/75.

I've just managed to get a copy of his marriage entry in the PRs for Basildon, Berks in 1693 and it describes him as from the parish of Bucklebury.

I've been totally stuck on him and his wife SARAH SCULLER for ages - can't find hide nor hair of either of them!!

Can anyone please help?

Jill

Wow!! Thanks so much for that. It's funny that - just when you're thinking 'oh well I'll give up on that line for now cos I'm just not going to find out any more', a kind person like yourself comes along and provides the missing link!

Hopefully, this will set me off again on the Snell trail - and I might even find out something about his wife Sarah Sculler.!

Thanks again - it's really appreciated.

best wishes,
Jill.

Newburychap,

I've found a sibling of ROBERT SNELL in the IGI - JANE SNELL bp 1676 in Bucklebury-  but I'm not having any luck finding the marriage of their parents JOHN SNELL and ANN in the IGI or on Family HistoryOnline.

Could I push my luck and ask if the Bucklebury PR transcripts you have access to contain any details of this marriage?

best wishes,
Jill

As far as I recall they didn't marry in Bucklebury - for some reason Thatcham comes to mind...

Perhaps you could try Brooks' Marriage Index or the Berks FHS index.

Hi Newburychap,

I hope you don't mind if I bother you for another Bucklebury look up.

I've got Eleanor/Ellen Goddard bp 1679 in Bucklebury d/o Henry & Eleanor.

Are there any siblings and any sign of Henry & Eleanor's marriage or respective baptisms?

Thanks
Jill
