Thirlaway family, Lumley
« on: Saturday 02 October 04 15:50 BST (UK) »
My g-g-g-grandfather William Thirlaway was born in Lumley in 1824.
I am looking for his siblings, as part of William's family diasappeared between 1854 and 1861. I wondered if perhaps they were taken in by other members of the family.
Those who I can't trace are:
Richard Thirlaway, born c1845
Jane, c1846
Mary A., 1849
Any leads would help!

This may be the right family in 1841, but unfortunately there is another William Thirlaway in Lumley at the same time, and of the same age. Do you know whether John moved to Quarrington Hill later on?
If so, this could be my William, as brothers tended to work together in the coal mining areas.

Don't know if these are connected:

In the South Shields 1851 census name index, there is a James THIRLWAY 27, with Robert 5 and Jane 2 (piece  HO 107/2400, folio 150).

In the 1891, there is an Elizabeth J. widow, age 64, butcher (born East Hetton) and son Thomas, 29, coal miner (born Shiney Row), plus Ann age 35, born Wingate (relationship to head: RE)
