Help please lost in 1861.......Completed thanks
« on: Monday 06 March 06 22:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi cannot seem to find the following.....

Thomas Payne b @ 1849 Bedford    in the 1861 census.
I have him as the son of Thomas b@1818 and Sarah b @ 1823 but in 1861 Sarah only has daughter Eliza at home and Thomas senior is lodging in Yardley Hastings. In 1871 he is married and in 1881 they are all living together .

Help!!!!!! Can some one please find him ???

Hi Tazzie

I know this isn't an answer to your request but did you notice on the 1861 census entry for Sarah, where it gives occupation as Smith's Wife it also says (Son in a Foundry).

Looks as though Thomas was living at home but was working in the foundry when the enumerater called.

Regards ... Sheila

Hi Sheila...

Thats possible I didn't think of that.....night shift I suppose. I just wondered if he move away with job as he is back in 1871 and wanted to see where he went.

               thank you

Even if you are working and not in your own house on the night of the census...you should be listed somewhere!

There is quite a bit about engineering in Bedford on the above site...I expect the Thomas PAYNEs worked for John HOWARD - do a free text search for 'Britannia'
