Page number unclear on Marriage index
« on: Tuesday 07 March 06 12:49 GMT (UK) »
I have found my Grandfather and grandmother's marriage on the free BDM marriage index.
Oct/Nov/Dec quarter of 1917
Giacomo R Carisch spouse Jenden Vol 2a .... not sure of page number?? is it 905 or 906?
Can anyone have a look and give an opinion please.
If I apply for a certificate can I ask them to or will they check both page numbers??
New at this
Thanks
Jackie

Thank you, that was quick.
I was just about to add to my last post... I also found a previous marriage for Giacomo Carisch in 1893, I think to Orsolina Semadeni (probably  from the same town in Switzerland) I haven't been able to find a death record for her. I believe my grandfather returned to Switzerland sometime in the late 20's early 30's and died there leaving Lilian ( Grandmother ) with 4 children.
I would like to confirm Orsolina actually died before he married my grandmother!
Any help greatly appreciated
Jackie

Hi Jackie

Have you tried searching the actual death registers on http://www.ancestry.co.uk for Orsolina's death?

I had a quick look but couldn't see her in the 1901 census although he (Giacomo CARRISH) says he is aged 29 married - a servant (confectioner) at 80 High Rd, Streatham, London working for a Franz IZEPPONI? a confectioner and shopkeeper from Switzerland RG13/474 folio 82 page 5

Yes I got that record for the 1901 census. I now from my Mum's memory of him that he was a "Master Chef" so that fits in.
I think I found that they had two children Ines Orsolina Carisch 1895 and Rudolfo Giacomo Carisch 1898. I am assuming that (I know never assume) the mother Orsolina (Semadeni) Carisch must have died and the children sent back to Switzerland. I know that when my grandfather died (when my mother was quite young) the family in Switzerland wanted to take the 4 children from grandfather's second marriage. My grandmother refused to let them go. They did not want to help her... just the kids!
I have found stacks of records for the de Carisch family on Familysearch.org.
It's been fascinating!
