Hi Vanda......

Living at Broom House Cottage . Levenshulme 1841 are.........

John Hardy / head / 35 / Ag Lab
Esther / wife / 25
James Richard Hardy ? / 15 / Ap Plumber
Emma / 6mths

All born in county

I put a question mark after James,  because , both christian names are abbreviated , and I think the mark after that , is a ditto

The 1841 census is very faint in places.

If you need help chasing him up in 1851 , don't hesitate to ask

Kind Regards
JeannieR

Hee, hee

What a coincidence, it's hubby's mum's maiden name  :D

It's a shame your Hardy's are down south, we might have been related  ;D ;)

Vanda,
Was most interested to see you were interested in 1841 census record for the same Hardy family as I was. This is my first day on this site.
Elaine.

Hi Elaine

Welcome to this fantastic site !!

When I first started my research , I couldn't even get off the ground , without help from members on here.........

On all sides , I am back to the 1700's now.....apart from my Hardy's !!

Good luck with your search.

Hi Elaine,
I would love to know how you are related to them.  John & Esther are my husband's 3x great grandparents.

Best wishes Vanda

Vanda,
Thanks ever so much for replying.
I didn't even realise that John Hardy had a second wife, Esther until 1841 census. John Hardy's son James Richard is my great x2 grandfather. The son of James Richard, Charles Gregory, sailed to Australia with his wife Sarah Elizabeth soon after his marriage in Sept 1865. When I was in UK in 2004 I double checked my Hardy research in Manchester & so I'm confident I have these Hardys back to Samuel Hardy born in Oct 1725 in Oldham, Manchester. Would be most interested to share my research. Where do you live? I live in rural NSW, Australia.
Elaine.
