Two William GRUNNAHs mystery
« on: Sunday 12 March 06 17:32 GMT (UK) »
I don't seem to be able to sort this one out and need some help, please.

In 1841 I have two William GRUNNAHs as sons of two GRUNNAH families in Hakin and Lower Weston of 14 and 20 (Hubberston). By the next census the 20 year old is 30 - fine, no sign of the other one and then a Thomas has appeared of 7. What am I not seeing properly?

Ahhhhh! This might help

David Barrah married Mary Grunnah in the Parish of Hubberston 06/04/1837
Groom was farmer from Langwm

I think that this indicates that the Grunnah's in the 1851 census are Mary's Nephews (although i still don't think William aged 30 would be!) Doesn't help with who Thomas's parents were.

David

Thank you very much for all that information - you have been working hard on my behalf and I do appreciate it,

Would you know who Mary GRUNNAH's parents were when she married David BARRAH? Would I be right in thinking that her father was James GRUNNAH who was 73 in the 1841 for Hubberston?

Sasha

PS This is not my GRUNNAH line at all but I am fascinated by these families and would dearly love to find a link with my GRUNNAHs at Freystrop!

The info on Mary Grunnah is only from an index of Parish registers not the original document and doesn't state any parents names unfortunately.

I think the 1851 census should say that William was Mary's brother - making them both children of James aged 73 but this still doesn't tell us whos child Thomas is unless it is William's son and his wife had died - if that all makes sense!

Good luck

Do you have all your Grunnah in Freystrop info for 1841?

David

David, dare I say what I have on the 1851 for Lidderson?

Well, here goes....David Barrah is now the head of the family and there are two nephews, William 30 and Thomas 7! Feel I am going round in circles with this one so I shall put it to one side for the time being but in the meantime many thanks for all your help.

Sasha

PS Have all the info I need on the 1841 for Freystrop and thank you
