Manorcunningham Mystery
« on: Thursday 16 March 06 18:07 GMT (UK) »
I am at a loss.  Family stories say that our line came from Manorcunningham but I have nothing to prove it.  My uncle insists that My grt grt grandpa James Semple was a land steward in the area and that his son Thomas helped to raise polo ponies.  My uncle insists that the owner of the land was Lord Leitrim but everything that i have found online suggests that Lord Leitrim died before Thomas was born and that contradicts everything I had been told.  I know that family stories are often wrong or exagerated but it seems like i have no where to go no to find this family.  James was married to Margaret O'Donnell and they had at least 2 other children, Francis and a daughter whose name I dont know.  By 1914 Margaret and Thomas were in Scotland where Thomas married and Margaret's death was reported in 1926 by Francis, also in Scotland.  I believe that James was originally from Scotland but I havent found him in any records other than being named on Thomas' marriage cert.  If anyone can help me to sort all of this out I would really appreciate it.  Thanks in Advance.
