1851/1861 - John Vander Horst Rees

Hi

John Vander Horst Rees was born in Pembrey in 1834, son of John Hughes Rees born c.1806.    Can anyone help me trace John in 1851 and 1861?

Hi Annie

Thanks for your reply but it is not the man I'm after.  John was born in 1834,  he is not shown with the rest of his family in the 1861 reply you sent me (about his brother Richard M Rees).   A possible explanation for John's absence in 1861 was his military career.  I have a note that  "he served in the  New Zealand wars of 1860/61"  I have John's 1871 census entry, living in London.
