Ships from Ireland to England.

How do we trace our Irish anccestors on board ships from Ireland to England.I see plenty on the way to America but not to Liverpool.
                     Any ideas anyone.

I am trying to trace one going from Australia to England and one from Norway to Wales,  so I sympathise,  you are right,  if they aren't going to America or Australia there is little on the net to help you.

However,  have you tried The National Archives of Ireland?
http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1.html ,  it may help.

Sorry to disappoint you but there were no records kept of passengers on local ferrys (England, Ireland Scotland and Wales).
Saying that most of the ships from Ireland sailed to Liverpool first, before setting off to America so it might be worth checking the censuses for Liverpool.
There was also a lot of trade between Whitehaven and Maryport in Cumbria (Cumberland) and Belfast, and a lot of Irish immigrants came in through these ports.
