« on: Saturday 18 March 06 11:02 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone by chance come across a Martin Dorian married to  Margaret Bonar they had a daughter Margaret Dorian (Born c1820 Ireland Died 29th April 1895Greenock Scotland)Margaret Dorian was my GG Grandmother.I do not have any information on where these relations lived in Ireland, other than that during the 1881 census in Greenock her son stated that he came from Donegal.
                                                        Thanks Tom

Hello Tom,

What denomination were Bonar and Dorian families? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland) or possibly Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Christopher,
Thanks, these families were catholic so would imagine that there will be a church record some where if I can narrow the location from Ireland.
