Hi

Welcome to Rootscaht

I can't see a baptism for an Olive - there is a gap in the entries in the IGI for baptisms at Caverswall 1809-1813
however I thought these two were interesting being at a similar time and the father being Richard

ANN SYMCOCK   Christening:  17 MAY 1801   Caverswall
  Father:  RICHD SYMCOCK
  Mother:  HANNAH

STEPHEN SYMCOCK   Christening:  19 AUG 1798   Caverswall
  Father:  RICHD SYMCOCK
  Mother:  HANNAH

The only Richard Simcock in Caverswall in 1841 is this one

from 1841 census - Caverswall - Roughcote

Richard Simcock 80 Farmer Y
Hannah Simcock 80 Y
Charlotte Simcock 8 Y
HAnnah Simcock 2 Y

Hope it helps

Thank you for your promt reply. I am most grateful to you.She is proving difficult to find. She seems to have left Caverswall under a cloud. I have recently found a message on a Simcock web site dated 2001 - searching for the same Olive Simcock. In this message it states she had an illegitimate child in Caverswall before  marrying a soldier, Lawrence Anthony in Manchester. He dies and she then marries my gggrandfather Andrew Reilly, also a soldier.Unfortunately the e-mail address for the message  is not now active.
She names her first 2 daughters - Elizabeth  ( one daughter from each marriage).
Due to the dates neither can be the illegitimate child.I wonder if she has changed her name! Perhaps her name is Elizabeth????
Due to conflicating dates on census records her birth could be 1807 or 1814.

The 1841 census results could be her parents with grandchildren of her siblings.

Thanks once again - the plot thickens!
abarnes.

Thank you, but I have already found and used this site.
I have had a message on the Caverswall parish family history forum for some time now.
I am beginning to think she may have been born and christened in another parish nearby  to Caverswall.Do you know if all the Caverswall parish registers have been transcribed for the period of 1807-15?
I have recently found another ancestor searching for Olive Simcock. We have pooled resources for her later life after she had left Caverswall, but we are both now stuck finding where she was born and her mothers name.
I would like to add how excellent the Caverswall parish forum site is.

Thank you.
This was not the message I was looking for - but late last night after much searching I found the one about Andrew and Olive riley in Newcastle re 1841 census that I was looking for.It was in the Northumberland requests dated March 06.I have now replied to this with the information I have on the family - they are my gggrandparents.
This site is very good - but my computer skills need polishing up!

The IGI also contains the following possible children of Richard and Hannah.
(spelling differences could be transcription errors?)
Hannah Sincoc - bapt 17 Dec 1782 - death 29 Dec 1782
Han Sincock - bapt 18 Jul 1790
Eliza Syncock - bapt 25 Oct 1807
Zachariah Sincock - bapt 13 Jan 1788
Geo Sincoc - bapt 17 Dec 1782 - ? twin to Hannah ?
Charles Sincock - bapt 15 Nov 1785.

Couldn't see an Olive - but there is an Eliza c1807.

Hope this helps

Thank you for replies.I have just picked them up as I have been away.
I think Richard and Hannah may be her parents....but no birth/christening record in Caverswall can be found. She may of course have been born in another parish, or they just didn't register her!
I have contradictory evidence of her birth date - 1807/8 ( death cert) 1815 ( census records) just to complicate things.
Thank you for these suggestions - they could be siblings. Some christian names match up with her own childrens names.Eliza, Elizabeth, Richard...but no Hannah.
Angela.
