Lookup - Census 1901, Thompson A E
« on: Tuesday 21 March 06 23:12 GMT (UK) »
My Grandfather Albert Edward Thompson lived in 98, Roden St at the time of my father's (Reginald George) birth in 1914.

I believe Albert's mother lived in 100, Roden St around this time.

Albert was born in Drumbrane, Cavan 30th March 1887 and married Emma Jane Magowan, born 6 March 1887 in Portadown, marriage date unkown.

I would very much like to know when they arrived in Belfast - the Covenant of 1912 is not conclusive.

Many thanks,
Gary

Going through old posts and found this one - have you already found the information on this family that you were looking for earlier? Since then lots of Irish resources have come online.

The 1911 census shows Albert Edward Thompson, wife Emily Jane and a son- still living in Armagh. Listed as married 2 years so probably 1908/1909.

The Ulster Covenant website (www.proni.gov.uk) shows an Emma Thompson, 74 Park Rd., Portadown- same address as 1911 census. Can't see a match for Albert siging Covenant at the same address.

Reginald George Thompson's birth registered Oct./Dec.1914 in Belfast so the family likely moved 1912/1914.

This is probably your Albert Edward Thompson in 1901 census with parents and siblings. Although he was born in Cavan they are living in Tyrone-
