Hi Valerie

I couldn't see any Capons in Clophill in 1841 I'm afraid.

The only Capon burials in the parish were
Edward 24 May 1779
Sarah 22 June 1801
and I can't see an obvious burial in Beds for Joseph.

Perhaps the whole family decamped to London

In addition to the four christenings that John found there's also another Edward chr 30 July 1780, parents William or Joseph and Mary Capon. These are the earliest events for Capons in Clophill, so I don't think Joseph was from that parish, but I can't see a marriage of Joseph and Mary anywhere in the country on the IGI - and virtually all Beds pre 1812 has been  extracted onto the IGI.

There were also Capons in the nearby parish of Lidlington, so possibly Joseph was from there - a Joseph was christened there in 1755, there's no sign of a marriage/burial for him, and the date fits with the christening of a first child in 1775, so it might be worth investigating the Lidlington Capons.

Not much help I'm afraid!

Regards

David

Thankyou both John and David for your time, and your help.
Someone has already checked the London 1841 census for Joseph and Mary  without success, they may  well of died by this time. Joseph in Lidligton looks hopeful. There seem to be alot of Capons in Biggleswade as well. At least the infomation you have given me  has given me new areas to search. As Ihave not been able to find the marriage of John/Charles to Ann. It would help if they did not keep changing their names.
 thank you both again.

Hi Valerie

I have a number of the Biggleswade/Langford/Henlow Capons in my tree but I haven't seen any connection with the Clophill/Lidlington families, although there may have been an earlier offshoot.

In 1851 and 1861 Charles/John was living at the same address in Holborn. Pallots Marriage Index has 2 marriages of John Capon in Holborn St Andrew, either/both of which could be him:
1812 to Mary Ann Upton
1821 to Ann Taylor

Thankyou David
I have managed to trace Charles/John capon through to the 1871 census. Ann untill the 1861 census. I have found a death record for her 1866 Holburn. I was going to send for Johns death cert but now I think I will send for Ann. As I will be able to find out her maiden name form this. She was born in stratford on avon. In the mean time I think I will go with Ann  Taylor as it fits better with th fact that thier first born John in 1825.
Thankyou again as you have given me a lot to think about, I have checked the christening for John if this is correct I have found the start of another generation, John and Martha.

Hi Valerie

Don't waste £7, as death certs do not show maiden names. However if any of her children were born after 1837 their birth certs will give her maiden name
