1841 Look up please - St Neots
« on: Friday 24 March 06 13:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I hope that someone can help me out with a look up from the 1841 census.

I'm looking for Richard Anthony REYNOLDS (born c.1806) and his family living at Paxton Hall in St Neots.

Many thanks,

Mick ;)

Hi Mick,

You nearly got me there! Paxton Hall is in Little Paxton, not St Neots (or at least it was in 1851)

And was in 1841 as well:

HO 107/454-08 folio 6B
Paxton House, Little Paxton
Richard Anthony Reynolds 30 Ind Born in county
Mary Grant 60 FS Not born in county
Sophia Hensman 20 FS Born in county

The 1851 is horribly mistranscribed - his birthplace is actually Stirtloe, Buckden, Hunts, not Shriboe, Ruckdon, Hunts!

Regards

David

Thanks Annie,

Now I'm on a roll!! ;)

Interesting to see that Richard Reynolds had become a magistrate by 1861! Was he still unmarried? Incredible if he was, because at one time (1840's) he was one of the most eligible bachelor's in the country.......apparently!!! :P

Make's you wonder!

Mick ;)
