First you will have to scan it in a bit larger, the larger the better but not over 500kb for here. There will be higher resolution settings on your scanner program.
Then it is an easy enough job if you have photoshop or paintshop to remove the blue and scratches.
If not let us do it for you  ;D

Scrattletrap

As you can guess my new toy for today,I have played about but all I managed to do was make holes in it by rubbing out and draw things on top.

Would love if you could do something for me,do I post it to your home address and then you do your magic and then you post it back...

Pm me the details ..thank you so much

The most important brushes you will use on photoshop to repair are the healing, clone and blur.
The clone will transfer exact image to a new section.
The healing will transfer the same texture
The blur will smooth.

you have to press the Alt button and click at the same time to locate the area you want to use to repair another area.

(someone else please explain this better)

Hi Steve,

That last scan is not at a higher resolution - just a larger picture - there is a difference!!

Check you scanner as Sharon says - there are sliders there or windows with boxes - depending on your scanner - For my own photos the files can go over 20 meg then they are much easier to work with (although only 500k for this forum)

Cheers

Keith

Someone once told me a neat trick (I forgot who it was so apologies if the person is here)
Go to image size and increase the image to 200% then work with that, once your happy there reduce it down to 50% and your image will be a lot crisper (cleaner)
