Benjamin Richard Cole. Lambton, Ontario.
« on: Sunday 26 March 06 02:48 BST (UK) »
Benjamin Richard COle emigrated from Manchester early after 1901, probably with wife Ada.
In 1916 he enrolled in the forces. He was living in Scarlet Road, Lambton at that time.
I wonder if anyone can give me anymore information about the family?  They had two sons, one called Ben.
Thank you,
Mavis

Hi Mavis
I live in Sarnia and will nip up to the archives tomorrow morning and see if they have a copy of the records for Lakeview Cemetary. I'll have about 45 minutes, anyone else got any ideas what I may be able to check?

Hi Denise,

That's great.  The reference number "LB-197-2" which is on the Ontario Cemetery Finding aid dosn't mean much to the cemeteries, but the libraries sometimes have the information.  I know I have given the reference number to the library and they then tell me the date of death.

Hi Mavis
I checked the records for Lakeview Cemetary, Sarnia, the Benjamin Cole buried there died in 1902, there is no Ada Cole recorded on the OCFA, buried in Lambton either, it looks like your Benjamin moved out of county  :-\  I cross referenced Ada Cole and Benjamin Cole but these two names did not appear in the same county for cemeteries.
What I can do when I have a little more time is see if they have directories for that time frame, we may be able to pinpoint a year of him leaving Lambton Co.
~Denise

EDIT: I just found this, you can see it for yourself  ;D

Thank you for that. I had a look at the site, very good!
Are there any census available for Canada? I assume he returned from the war, in fact I know he did because I have a photo of him, his wife and two boys, one called Ben and the other Don.
Thank you agian,
Mavis

Hi Mavis,

The only available census for Canada is 1911, and I'm not having any luck finding him there yet.

Maybe since he was in Sarnia, which is one of the border crossing's to Michigan, perhaps they moved on to the states.  The 1920 and 1930 census are available there, perhaps you could post on the US Lookup board as well and see if they went there.
