Hi Trisha
 :'(
Have checked the 1841 Oxfordshire census but can't find Little Witton or Little Wittenham on it.  can't find Little Witton on my map but there is a Little Wittenham just over the border in Berkshire.

Had a look at Warborough for Richard GREEN and family.....afraid no GREENS at all  :'( :'(

sorry  :(

Hi

Have had a look at this one - in the 1861 census for Richard Green and family it does say Little Wittenham as the wifes birth place - however I checked it in 1841 and couldn't find her

From the IGI I found a marriage in Little Wittenham 15th Jan 1822 of John Hitchcock to Margaret Belcher

I think John must have died before 1831

Then 17th Sept 1831 Little Wittenham a marriage of Margaret Hitchcock to Thomas West

From the 1841 census for Little Wittenham

Ann Belcher 65 Pauper Y
Margaret West 40 Y
Thomas Belcher 20  Ag Lab Y
Elizabeth Hiscock 15 Ag Lab Y
Benjemin Hiscock 13 Y
Sara West 9 Y
Catherine West 5 Y

It looks as though Thomas West has died and his widow is back with her mum with some of her children from 2 marriages

Then sometime before 1861 Margaret marries James Low and it is in fact Mary Anns mother who is on the 1861 census with them as visitor Margaret A Low born 1802 Little Wittenham

by 1871 she is back at home with husband James in Little Wittenham

from 1871 Little Wittenham  Berkshire

James Low Head born  1797  Little Wittenham Berkshire
Margaret Low wife born 1801  Little Wittenham Berkshire
John T West Grandson born 1852  Little Wittenham Berkshire

Thats my theory - What do you think? :)
