BMD 1868
« on: Tuesday 28 March 06 15:07 BST (UK) »
I want to obtain the birth certificate for my Great Grandad, Thomas Corcoran born in Bramham, West Yorkshire in 1868.  However, although he appears on the census, i can't find him on the ancestry BMD. ??? Is this normal? Any suggestions please

Hi KJK123

There is a Thomas CORCORAN birth registered in the December quarter for 1868 Bramham registration district ref. 9c 649 which could be him?

You can view the original index images for free http://www.ancestry.co.uk

Alternatively, you could apply direct to the local registry office for the area - they will check the parents' names and any other information you give them before issuing the certificate.

thankyou that must be him.  However, I must be doing something wrong - I re-input the information you have provided and it still came back with nothing.  Even when i put in just 9c 649??

Are you using the link Casalguidi gave you?  (NOT FreeBMD, which isn't complete for all years yet.)

Make sure you choose the option "search the complete images".

If you are sure of your details I recommend writing to the local registrar - I have a brilliant response from doing this!
