Benjamin ISAACS married Elizabeth Mary FEIST in the March quarter of 1870 in the Holborn registration district ref. 1b 641. If you have a copy of this marriage, perhaps you could dig it out and tell us what it says - otherwise I would very much suggest ordering a copy. I am wondering if Mary and Elizabeth (Benjamin's wife) on the census returns are both the same person if her name was actually Elizabeth Mary - possibly used both names at times

Now this looks interesting as this marriage took place quite a few years after George and Alice were born - do you know who your George's mother was ie. have you got a birth certificate for him?
