Marriage Pett lookup Thomas J Joy
« on: Tuesday 28 March 06 17:56 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find the marriage of Thomas J Joy to an Elizabeth

They are recorded in the 1851 census

Thomas J 56 chief boatman and coastguard - born Great Clacton
Elizabeth 48 - born Sidbury Devon.

Pett Sussex

They don't seem to have got married anywhere around Great Clacton Essex so I am hoping they may have been married in this neck of the woods ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Bantman

There does not appear to be a marriage in Sussex that could fit in with your criteria.

The only Thomas Joy to an Elizabeth in Sussex is

Thomas Joy / Eliza Grover at Lewes St. Michael, East Sussex,  Date: 15 Dec 1839: both of this parish.

Prior to that it is
Thomas JOY, bachelor, pte 52nd regt foot and Elizabeth BLACKALL, spinster, both of this parish at Horsham, West Sussex,  Date:  2 Dec 1799:
which I think you will agree is a bit to early for them.

Sorry

Many thanks Chris in 1066

The 1841 census info is very interesting, this is the first time Ive seen a daughter so Ill be looking for a birth as well now, Mary Joy 1831. I wonder where that would have been?.

The rest of the info is all good stuff to, and just proves/disproves any theories I might of hatched, as it all becomes clear when you have the facts!

Many Thanks Again for your time
