Royal Navy service number

I am looking for my ggGrandfathers Navy service record.

His name was Henry Gilbert West
he was born in Kensington on the 5 December 1874
at first i was not sure if he was in the navy but i have just received his death certificate and it says navy pensioner on it.

Please can someone tell me how i go about obtaing it?

i think he enlisted before 1901 because i cant seem to find him on the census, he did not marry to 1919

Do you have his marriage certificate for 1919, 'cos it would be helpful to know what his profession was then.

Did you find him on The Seaman's Register - I could not seem to see him

On his marriage certificate under his occupation it has just general labourer.

on his death cert it says general labourer, naval pensioner
