Missing War Memorial -WW1 - Bradford

Hi,

Asking for a friend, she is trying to find a WW1 War Memorial that was in St Columbas Church, but is missing ??.  She belives that her father and his two brothers are commerated on this board.

Names are :- Hector  TUXFORD - Suvived
                     Arthur  TUXFORD  - Suvived
                     Sam      TUXFORD  - KIA

Details for Sam Tuxford:-

Private 4697.  1st/6th Bn West Yorkshire Regt (PWO) Died 7/7/1916.

Would be grateful for any information on the whereabouts of any memorial.

if the church has been pulled down,then its likely  the memorial went with it,there were hundreds of street memorials in salford in the 50s,all went under the demolition mans hammer,you could try enquiring at the place which that church comes under,it may be in storage,mack

Thanks for the info. The church has now been de-commissioned and is now a restaurant and outreach centre.

Thats why my freind is looking for the board.

I for one would hate to think that the board has been lost, disrespectful comes to mind.

I would suggest the local council or museum or placing an add in the local newspaper, perhaps its been transfered to another local church... its worth more efforts.

some of the street shrines were lost and saved, this one was removed in WW2  to save it from the bombing and was discovered in the basement of stretford town hall

the residents demanded it's return!!!!
