Hi there Mau Mau
I have just looked at information I have to hand in my collection, not the registers of Bodney I'm afraid.
Ann Oakley married Samuel Elmer in Bodney on 31 March 1820.
There were several Oakley people in Bodney in 1851 but none of your lot, but there was a Judd Oakley born 1824 with his family.
There was no Ann or Samuel Elmer.
(This information are from indexes, not the original records.)
What information have you regarding the ones in Tasmania? When did they emigrate? Why? On which ship? From where?
I could then follow up this end to see if there are other bits of information here. I have notes relating to a Howard family of four brothers who emigrated on the Southern Eagle to Tasmania, Launceston, in 1857. Did your lot come on the same ship or did they travel on the Whirlwind which went 1855?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Oh, happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
