I would suggest that Barton was the original residence of the bride, Amberley the groom, and they married at St James in Gloucester (where incidentally my husband was christened!) which is just off Barton Street as pointed out earlier in this thread.

Sorry for the delay in saying thanks - I have been away!  What you suggest seems like a good possiility, but not what I was expecting - ie the bride living in Barton St.
Gives me something to think about!
