Charlicks - are they in Norfolk?
« on: Sunday 02 April 06 14:50 BST (UK) »
John Charlick a ropemaker and Mary Ann had their son John in Plymouth Devon in 1819.  It has been suggested that maybe the Charlicks came from Yarmouth in Norfolk as there is reference to the Charlick name there. Does anyone have knowledge of this.

Hi

Charlick as such is not a Norfolk name that I have come across in over 25 years of researching but, someone will prove me wrong!

Have you carried out a search on the 1881 census index or the LDS site to see where most occurances of the name are???

Best of luck

The other way to identify geographical 'pockets' is from civil BMD records.

Hi Teddy and Pauline - thanks for your responses. I was following the Norfolk trail as a John Charlick married a sarah turner there in 1782 - clutching at straws really as I've come to a brick wall with my John Charlick

Hi

If there is a definate place to check then it could be worthwhile.  Turner is a common name but it is just possible that there are Turner wills that mention the family you are researching.

Where was the wedding?
