« on: Tuesday 04 April 06 11:58 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering whether someone could see if they could find the following family on the 1901 census. I have been searching and can't find them.

The information from the 1891 census is as follows -
Bourne Park Cottage Bridge.

WILLIAM B KELWAY born c 1840 Dover - Police Sgt.
ELIZABETH KELWAY, wife born c1843 Hythe
EMMA P KELWAY, daughter, born c1876 Penshurst
CLARA KELWAY, daughter, born c1877 Thorne
ANNIE KELWAY, daughter. born c1881, Thorne

Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

Kind regards,
Blue

Hi Blue

When I couldn't immediately see them, I looked up other census years and saw that the girls were actually born Herne not Thorne ;)

Hello from Australia. I couldn't help but notice the similarity of the head of the family to my GF. I have a few questions if you would be so kind as to help me out.
Could you please tell me William's wife's name (if you know)? My William was married to Mary or Mabel Mary NEWTON.
Could there have been another child...a son Walton Harry B:January 1884? Walton moved to Aust. about 1904, married in 1917 and had 3 children 1920,23,27 before he died in 1930 in Melbourne Aust.

Hello Blue, thankyou for your reply. It was the "William Euston/Burton? KELWAY " reference that caught my eye. Walton Harry is a complete mystery before coming to Aust. despite having severals certs stating his parents names and his birth place in Wales.
Thanks again and good luck with your research.
Kind Regards.
Peter.

I know he arrested my great-grandfather John Jarvis...! He and Constable Dunk arrested him in Whitstable on Boxing Day, 1890 for stealing a horse--and Sgt Kelway wound up chasing him into the sea and apprehending him there as my great-grandfather tried to swim away! :-) Did 5 years hard time and rightfully so...what became of Sgt Kelway, may I ask?  Carol in Oswego, NY
