There is a LOWIS family in Moorby 1841

640-23/2
John LOWIS 50 Farmer
Sarah 50
Mary 25
Harriot 14
Hannah 9

The IGI has Eliza LOWIS bap 14 July 1822 dau of John and Sarah at Thornton le Fen ... I'm not sure exactly where that is.

Eliza was not in Horncastle Workhouse in 1841.

Annie/Geoff, The probable marriage for this 1841 Moorby family is

John Lowis - Sarah Brader 21/12/1809 Moorby (Horncastle deanery marriages)

The workhouse issue warrants a closer look though ,doesn't it?

Thornton le Fen is both a parish and a scattered township which lies 6 miles northwest of Boston. Carrington parish is to the northeast and Langrick parish to the southwest. The parish includes the hamlet of Bunker's Hill on the Howbridge Drain, and covers about 1,670 acres.

This is more than 10 miles South of Moorby....but later censuses suggest that John Lowis came from even further south- Cambridgeshire.

Thanx..
The problem I've got is Betsy Lowis was my partners GGGrandmother
She was in Horncastle workhouse and was an unmarried mother.
On IGI it says Betsy's mother was Eliza ------
There is an Eliza Lowis in the workhouse with her and I am trying to connect them.
But! I cannot find a husband for her but another son !!
