Legacy Software
« on: Monday 10 April 06 15:10 BST (UK) »
Last year i put my family tree in to Legacy, well my mothers side anyway and it took me days to to it.
Last christmas when i got my new computer my bro in law took the legacy and put it into his mp2 player so he could just install it on the new one.
Now he has gone on holiday for 3 weeks and i want my legacy back cos im in the mood for putting in my Dads side,so im wondering if i download another Legacy and put it in can i transfer it to the one my bro in law has got when he gets back

You can download a free version of Legacy, input all the data (again) and then send him a GEDCOM copy of your data. If you want his data - he has to make it into a GEDCOM and send it to you.

But how can your BIL "take" your Legacy from your computer to put it on his?? He can make a copy, but you should still have the original. Unless he deleted it - and why would he do that?

And if you still have your mother's side on the computer, you can open that, select File/New Family File from the menus at the top.  Then start adding info to the new tree and give it a new name when you save it.
