Posting Castleton Interests Jackson/Elliot

Hello All,

I have discovered my Gt. Gt Grandmother was a CHARTERS JACKSON born 1833  Crossdykes, Hutton & Corrie Dumfries.
Her Mother was AGNES BELL  Crossdykes Hutton & Corrie Dumfries. Unmarried.
Her father is listed in the OPR's as JAMES JACKSON CASTLETON.

On SP I see there is a James Jackson Bpt 1799, parents, SIMON JACKSON & JEAN ELLIOT Castleton.

James never married but had another daughter with Agnes BELL - JANE JACKSON  b 1840 she married John ELLIOT b 1836 Castleton.
I would like to hear from anyone else researching this family.

Hi there,

I have a Robert Jackson born aound 1813 in Canonbie, DFS, but in Castleton in the 1851 census.  Do you think there could be a link?  His daughter Elizabeth married my GGG Grandfather's brother.

Have not found a link but there are brothers of James who could have had children which I have not yet traced & Canonbie is just over the Border.

I see you have Elliots

I have a Jean Elliot father Adam from Sorbitrees Castleton Rox in my tree have you any connections there?

Hi there,

I have not yet established a link with the Elliots at Sorbitrees.  However, I have a brick wall with my Elliots.  I have a William Elliot born in Castleton in 1811 to Isabella Aitchison and Thomas Elliot, who never married.  I have no idea who this Thomas Elliot is - he may be a link, but until I work out who he is, I don't know
